You read right, the Department of Higher Education plans to improve the TVET system and wants TVET Colleges to be at the forefront of higher education. Minister Blade Nzimande has said that they are looking to resolve the issues within the TVET system and will also be making some changes.
At TVET Colleges, students receive education and training with a view towards a specific range of jobs, employment or entrepreneurial possibilities. After completing a qualification at a TVET College, you then might qualify for admission to a University of Technology to continue their studies at a higher level in the same field of study.
