Schools in the Western Cape are facing the prospect of significant staff reductions, as severe budget cuts force the provincial government to plan for the elimination of approximately 2,400 teaching posts by 2025.


After it was revealed that the PYEI has been extended, many people want to know when phase 5 of teaching assistant jobs will be open for applications. An update has been provided by the education department. 


More than a million job opportunities was created as part of the Basic Education Employment Initiative. However, former teaching assistants have not received money for months. 


Millions of South Africans have been assisted through the implementation of social support programmes introduced in the last few years. However, it is unknown whether the implementation of the R350 grant and the Presidential Employment Stimulus will continue to make a difference. 
 


A programme that created more than one million job opportunities has reached the conclusion of its forth phase. While there is no official decision on whether the programme will continue in the future, the education department is urging youth not to apply for placement.


Teachers play a critical role in shaping the country’s future as they educate the country’s next generation. However, a looming teacher shortage and declining working conditions could be diluting the noble profession. 
 


More than one million employment opportunities were created through the implementation of the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI). While the programme has made a significant contribution to combatting youth unemployment, its implementation is set to come to an end. 


Phase 4 of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI), particularly the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI), is currently underway according to the Basic Education Department. This sees unemployed youth take on the role of teacher assistants and general school assistants.
