Protesters demand municipality convert derelict buildings into residences. About 100 students from TVET colleges and Nelson Mandela University marched on Tuesday to the Port Elizabeth City Hall to hand over a memorandum of demands to Mayor Thsonono Buyeye.

College students have been left homeless due to financial difficulties. This, they say is due to NSFAS being insufficient in their service and students then having many blanks when it comes to their funding situations.

Students at TVET Colleges have issued many grievances when it comes to how Colleges and the Department has dealt with the pandemic. With issues from maanagement, residences and NSFAS, students are not being able to continue their academic programmes in many parts of the country.

Students at Tshwane University of Technology are demanding their allowances from NSFAS after having their accounts allegedly see no payments from the financial aid scheme for months. This then would cause problems to student livelihoods and put extra strain of them, especially now during this unprecedented time.
