Applying to schools can be stressful for parents as they scramble to get their children into a school for the following academic year. But what can you do if your child's application is rejected?

The Equal Education Law Centre has taken legal action against the Western Cape Education Department over seven learners who have not been placed at a school in the Metro East District.

The Gauteng Education Department began their school placements on Friday 15 October. According to Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona, parents have been confirming that they have received school placement offers for their children.

The Gauteng Education Department will today begin sending out SMSes to parents and guardians with school offers as school placements commence today. This year, the Department took a different approach to how school applications are done.

The ANC along with Parents for Equal Education SA are planning to take the Western Cape Education Department to court to make them address the issue of unplaced learners in Western Cape. The school year is currently in the middle of it's second term.
