Protests initiated by The National Education, Health and Allied Worker's Union (NEHAWU) with members from the National Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has now come to an end. An agreement between the two parties has now been reached and outlined.

Members of parliament are unhappy with the Minister responsible for Higher Education, Blade Nzimande as he has repeatedly failed to attended the portfolio committee to discuss saving the 2020 academic year at tertiary institutions and to answer the MPs other questions. Now they are talking about issuing a subpoena for him if he won't attend the meeting.

Minister in charge of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande and his Department, has released a statement in response to the memorandum of demands the South African Students Congress (SASCO) handed over to Parliament on TVET Colleges.

“It’s about time something is done to improve the situation at TVET colleges” says student. South African Students’ Congress (SASCO) members marched to the Durban City Hall on Wednesday as part of the National Day of Action.

The South African Students Congress (SASCO) embarked on nationwide protests today to have their concerns about TVET Colleges and it's poor state heard. The student organisation believes that improving the state of TVETs is the only way in which we will address the skills shortage and graduate unemployment.
