Parents and Guardians from Gauteng who are yet to submit their 2023 online school admission applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 have a limited amount of time to do so. The department has so far processed thousands of applications, as the deadline nears. 

It appears that the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has not addressed its existing R350 grant payment backlog. It has recently surfaced that many of the grant’s beneficiaries have not received their grant payments, and some have been waiting for several months.
 

The University of South Africa has to issue an apology to some of its NSFAS-funded students on behalf of the bursary scheme, following a miscommunication.

Since the commencement of the 2023 Online School Admissions for Grades 1 and 8, the Gauteng Education Department (GDE) has reported successful application turnout figures. Applications are set to close in less than two weeks.

Minister Angie Motshekga warned implementing agents for the school infrastructure projects that the time for excuses has come to an end. A meeting was held with these agents to address the matter.
