UCT student have finally been able to return to their rooms to pick up their belongings that were not damaged by the fire. With minimal extreme damage, UCT students and staff are lucky to find that most of their belongings were unharmed.

The University of Cape Town is working to salvage what's left after a runaway fire on Table Mountain National Park devastated part of the campus including a library and two residences. 


University of Cape Town students are now able to return to their residences as UCT deems it is safe for them to make their way back. There is also more information on the other UCT buildings that have been severely affected by the Cape Town fire.

UCT is facing as massive loss as their library is completely destroyed by a fire. Officials are now on sight to assess the damage and discuss moving towards the restoration of the library. People are urged to donate to the #UCTFire emergency relief fund.

Protesters demand municipality convert derelict buildings into residences. About 100 students from TVET colleges and Nelson Mandela University marched on Tuesday to the Port Elizabeth City Hall to hand over a memorandum of demands to Mayor Thsonono Buyeye.

College students have been left homeless due to financial difficulties. This, they say is due to NSFAS being insufficient in their service and students then having many blanks when it comes to their funding situations.

Students at TVET Colleges have issued many grievances when it comes to how Colleges and the Department has dealt with the pandemic. With issues from maanagement, residences and NSFAS, students are not being able to continue their academic programmes in many parts of the country.

Students will be allowed to return to their residences and private student accommodation spaces once the national lockdown has been lowered to level 3.
