Following the closure of phase two applications for the Basic Education Employment Initiative. The Basic Education Department says that 280 000 recruits have been placed and are being prepared for their duties.


The second phase of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative is currently underway. Approximately 287 000 young unemployed individuals were placed at schools and given employment and training opportunities in the Education sector.


The education assistants who were recruited as part of the Basic Education Employment Initiative have officially stepped into schools and started work. This initiative is said to be helping the youth of South Africa in various ways.
