But the impact of the measures used to combat the pandemic, such as lockdowns, have not been even. The pandemic has likely worsened the income inequalities that characterise the country’s economy.


NSFAS was put under administration in August 2018, and Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande has extended this to August 2020.  "NSFAS would like to reassure the public that the arrest of the three employees will not have an impact on the 2020 applications cycle, which is expected to close on November 30, 2019," Carolissen said.
