With the education sector is in dire need of educators to accommodate the high volume of South African students, the need for qualified educators is paramount. In South Africa, there are a number of bursary funds available to support students who would like to enter the education sector.

Students are growing tired of the issues and inefficiencies presented to them due to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. One such issue is NSFAS’ move to no longer fund postgrad degrees with the Wits SRC saying students are now in a worse position with NSFAS than they were before.

Early this year, students started hearing that their postgraduate studies won't be funded as they thought they would after NSFAS said that they no longer fund postgrad qualifications. This obviously left many students with little to no options.

With NSFAS having released funding decisions for 2021, the Minister of Higher Education has now taken it upon himself to congratulate those who were successful in applying for the NSFAS bursary.

The issue of postgrad funding has been a major issue for a while now and NSFAS has added fuel to that fire. NSFAS has said that they will not fund any postgrad qualifications anymore as there are not enough resources available to do so.
