nsfas allowance extension


Students all across South Africa have lodged complaints that they have not received their learning materials allowances, or better known as the book allowance, and the academic year has already commenced. The Minister has addressed this issue.


NSFAS has made it clear that beneficiaries were receiving allowances during 2020 and will continue to pay allowances in 2021 even though funds are currently constrained.


NSFAS Administrator Dr Carolissen discusses why NSFAS students have had to wait until the next academic year for their promised laptops. 


With the 2020 school year coming to an end and the academic year for some tertiary institutions finishing, higher education now has to put plans in place for next year as we all try to live alongside the virus and minimise it's effects.


Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande, has detailed when Universities will be completing the current academic year as well when they'll be starting the next. Surprisingly, these dates might not be what we originally thought they would be due to the pandemic.
