The National Research Foundation (NRF) is pleased to announce the call for applications for masters and doctoral scholarships programmes for 2020 in the listed programs of Masters & Doctoral Grants; Honours Block Grants and Postdoctoral Grants.

National Research Foundation Scholarships

The (National Research Foundation) NRF is mandated by an Act of Parliament, the NRF Act (Act No. 23 of 1998) to: “Support and promote research through funding, human capacity development and the provision of the necessary research facilities, in order to facilitate the creation of knowledge, innovation and development in all fields of science and technology, including indigenous knowledge.

iThemba Laboratory for accelerator based sciences is a group of multidisciplinary research laboratories administered by the NRF.

Graduates in science and technology, communications and journalism are invited to apply for a one-year internship programme.

The National Research Foundation (NRF) is responsible for the management of the DST-NRF Internship Programme in which unemployed Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) graduates and postgraduates (including those in Social Sciences and Humanities) are offered an opportunity to acquire practical work experience through mentoring and an exposure to a research environment.
