Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, says the credibility of the two leaked exams is compromised so there should be no debate about whether the rewrite should take place.


The high school dropouts in the Western Cape has increased, this comes as the effect of Covid-19 on schooling caused many matrics not to complete their final year. 


After the announcement of the matric exam rewrite the South African Teachers' Union (Sadtu) plans to take this to court and overturn the decision made by the Department of Basic Education. 


Western Cape MEC, Debbie Schaefer urges learners to cooperate with the Basic Education Department by rewriting the two leaked exam papers, despite many teacher's unions opposed to the rewrite. 


Green School, an environmental school based in Bali will be opening its first South African location in the Cape Winelands in 2021. 


The Basic Education Department plans to introduce Project-based learning to reduce future youth unemployment in South Africa. 


South African Schools have had to take on a rotation system in which learners have only been going to school once or twice a week, due to the restricted space available for social distancing. This has compromised the quality of education learners receive.
