Matric Exams 2020

The Department of Basic Education has announced that they have released the results for the Class of 2020 Matric exam remarks and rechecks. This might be some Matriculants second chance at getting their Matric or getting into the University programme they want.

The Matric final exams of 2020 were marred with controversy when it was announced that two exam papers had been leaked before they were written. The Education Department wanted the papers to be re-written but the courts ruled against them. An investigation had to be held to determine whether the final exam marks could be released. The 1 million learners who wrote the exams will be glad to know that the report has now been released.

The marking of the matric final examinations commenced on Monday while South Africa experiences its second wave of Covid-19. This begs the question whether there will be delays in the release of the matric results.

The marking of the National Senior Certificate exam papers commence today with government making sure that safety regulations are in place. These markers have quite the task ahead of them as they embark on marking 14 million Matric exam papers.

The marking of 14 million Matric exam papers starts on Monday but the process has been complicated by the move to level 3 of lockdown so the Education Department has issued an urgent release with details on the rules that the 45 000 exam markers must follow. They have only 18 days to mark all of the Matric exam papers.
