Teachers Union, SADTU, will together with COSATU embark on a march across the country on Thursday. The march is motivated by several issues that have impacted teachers throughout the country.

SADTU has raised concerns about the looming austerity measures that have been introduced by the treasury department to the education sector. With the most notable being the R6.4 billion budget cut on KwaZulu-Natal's education department.

The KZN Department of Education is investigating an alleged contravention of Disaster Management Act regulations at a Durban school. A pupil who had tested positive for COVID-19 was allegedly allowed to enter the school to write examinations.

In it's efforts to modernize and improve the quality of education in disadvantaged parts of the province, the Department of Basic Education in Kwa-Zulu Natal has launched a pilot program to modernize 54 of its primary schools. With us moving into the Fourth Industrial Revolution, this is a step in the right direction.
