The NSFAS proposal for funding sparked controversy last week after it was misunderstood by a number of students who thought the scheme is considering increasing the pass figure of 50% to 75% to qualify for funding. After the financial aid scheme clarified the confusion, youth organisations are now demanding more than just clarity.

Julius Malema is now demanding that the Department of Basic Education closes schools as the country experiences a third wave of Covid-19 infections. He also put a time limit on this demand and threatened action from the EFF should it not happen.

Unisa has some serious allegations made towards them by the EFF Student Command after the appointment of their new Vice Chancellor and National and Regional SRC. They argue that the allegations were false and give proof that the manner in which the appointment was made happen fairly and lawfully.

Unisa has still not enrolled the 20 000 students after being denied the option to cut down on their enrolment for 2021. A court ruling has been sent to the University to address many of Unisa's current issues, but the universities has said to be filing for an appeal.

The EFF Student Command has now taken Unisa and the Minister of Higher Education to court following their decision to cut down the number of first-time entering students accepted into Unisa for 2021 by 20 000. This has contributed to #BladeMustFall trending on social media.

Students have made #BladeMustFall trend on social media as they beg the Higher Education Minister to do more in supporting students. Calls have also come for NSFAS to be more efficient.

NSFAS making the decision to pull the funding from thousands of students has not  been going down well. The EFF Students Command are now giving their response to this position taken by NSFAS, which speaks on the possibility of financial exclusions, by also pointing the finger at NSFAS Administrator, Randall Carolissen, who supports the financial aid scheme's decision.

The EFF Student Command believe in empowering students politically. In order to do so, they have launched an Online Political School.
