During the Covid-19 pandemic, the already steadily rising teenage pregnancy cases in the country took yet another leap in numbers. In light of this, the Basic Education Department Director, Coceka Nogoduka, shared outlines of future policies to reduce teenage pregnancies.

 


Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga has urged men and women to never stop fighting for a non-sexist society that values women and girls. She further spoke about a number of the department's policy interventions aimed at protecting young girls in schools 


As a response to the reported rise in teenage pregnancies and HIV infections in South Africa's schools. The Basic Education Department is looking to intensify the implementation of its Comprehensive Sexuality Education in public schools.
