Wits has secured a donation of R150 million so that deserving students who are part of the missing middle can get support. The missing middle are those students who can't afford to pay their fees out of pocket but don't qualify for government funding.


Across the world, the higher education sector is changing because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Conversation Africa’s Nontobeko Mtshali asked vice-chancellors from three South African universities to share their insights about what these changes could mean for the country’s higher education landscape.


Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Buti Manamela has taken to his Twitter page to criticise Wits for continuing online learning. However, Wits’ Vice Chancellor was ready with a response to these criticisms.
