With cases growing by over 10 000  every day and with Gauteng already exhausted by the third wave, will schools be closing again? The Congress of South African Students and other stakeholders have called for this to take place with other organisations, such as Equal Education, taking the opposite view.


More and more reports of school protests are now coming to light. From racism to security, protests seem to be on the rise.


Teachers have finally received some response to the many calls for their vaccinations to be priortised. However, no date has been set for when these vaccinations will take place.


Julius Malema is now demanding that the Department of Basic Education closes schools as the country experiences a third wave of Covid-19 infections. He also put a time limit on this demand and threatened action from the EFF should it not happen.


Teacher's union Naptosa has raised concerns about the Department of Basic Education's handling of the return of primary school students to their normal full time schedule.


As the third wave approaches, many are wondering whether schools will close down again. Recently, a fake message has been floating around concerning school closures which the Department of Basic Education has now clarified.


With Covid-19 cases rising in South Africa and with more and more schools seeing Covid outbreaks, Unions are now calling for schools to close now. The previous waves saw many educators lose their lives to Covid, which Unions want to avoid with this wave.
