With 2023 well under way, Sassa still shoulders the responsibility of paying out the R350 grant to beneficiaries. However the processing sometimes encounters delays due to a number of reasons.

For more than 10 million South Africans, the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is still an important source of income. But SASSA has had a long-standing backlog of delayed grant payments from its previous cycles.

The agency was able to build up a backlog of unpaid recipients of SRD grants while processing payments for the previous cycle. Despite being accepted several months before the current period, many impacted recipients' application statuses are listed as "Pending" when tracked.

Sassa claims that this has been happening as a result of their efforts to keep up with the influx of new applications through their systems, which is why the June applications have been approved.

As Sassa evaluates each month separately, applicants should be aware that these R350 payments won't come in the form of double payments or a single lump sum. Furthermore, the agency claimed that they hoped to send May payments in August.

SRD grant beneficiaries who have opted to collect their grant payments using the cash-send payment method through banks such as ABSA, TYME BANK, NEDBANK, FNB and Standard Bank, have been advised to contact their respective banks on the numbers listed below

Here are the bank contact details for cash-send enquiries:

ABSA - 0800000122
TYME BANK - 0860 999 119
NEDBANK - 0800 555 111
FNB - 0875 759 405
Standard Bank - 0860 466 639

SRD grant recipients who have chosen the cash send option and do not have any payment dates listed under their SRD application status are invited to enter their banking information in their place. Unfortunately, the cash-send option was not available to these recipients since the mobile number verification was unsuccessful.

They can receive their SRD grant directly into their bank accounts by providing their banking details. Beneficiaries are advised against providing another person's banking information because the agency will not deposit their grant into another person's account.

The organisation demands that applicants provide their bank information through the SRD grant website. The online address for the SRD grant is https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
