The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is warning beneficiaries to be alert and on the lookout for fraudsters who have come up with methods of scamming them of their payouts. From time to time you will find these criminals preying on vulnerable citizens.


Even though the R350 grant has come to an end, SRD grant payments still continue. Some of these payments are done through the Post Office. A number of Post Offices will be closed around the country which could affect SASSA grant beneficiaries.


Activist organisations are battling to secure meetings. The Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant came to an end in April, but activists are calling for it to be extended.

SASSA has allocated billions of rands towards social grants for the 2021/22 financial year. Almost 100% of the department's budget goes to SASSA and the monthly payment of grants.


In Government's efforts to support the vulnerable during the pandemic, they have since issued R350s to millions of citizens needing financial assistance. There is now hope that a Basic Income Grant will be introduced as Minister Lindiwe Zulu gave some updates in her Budget Vote speech.


Many messages have been floating around about the R350 grant, especially as many beneficiaries have complained about missing payments. SASSA has now stepped up and set the record straight on R350 grant payments.
