The higher learning institution says that it has noted with concern that there have been people who present themselves on various platforms as UJ officials, with the intention to defraud students out of their money.
“The University has noted with concern the attempts of unscrupulous people to defraud UJ students of their money and resources. These unscrupulous people do so through presenting themselves on a number of platforms as UJ officials.”
According to the UJ, these individuals target students by advertising services of cashing student accommodation allowances.
The university has advised students to ignore these text messages and advertisements when they receive them.
UJ has further stated that it is currently investigating the matter and that the people who are responsible persons will be held accountable.
