Applications are open for Unisa students who were not able to write their November 2021 examinations due to loadshedding.
These applications are also open for those who had submitted applications for an aegrotat/deferred examination to write in the January/February 2022 window.
However, students received error messages when trying to submit their applications to [email protected].
The university says that the matter has been resolved. Affected students may re-submit their applications.
Those who would like to resubmit their aegrotat exam applications can follow these steps:
- Login to myUnisa and go to MyAdmin.
- Select the examination timetable on Assessment Admin.
- Click on Display to view your Oct/Nov timetable.
- Click on “Apply for AegrotatExamination” and enter the details required. You are required to attach supporting documentation; an affidavit may suffice.
Unisa students were not the only ones affected by this.
Umalusi CEO Mafu Rakometsi says that loadshedding has “far-reaching implications” and a “negative psychological impact” on learners when it disrupts their exam preparations.
In the past, Unisa students wrote exams physically on-campus but their mode of learning has been remote since the emergence of Covid-19.
“South Africans have been largely inconvenienced by the increased instances of loadshedding by Eskom over the past few weeks. While we have advised students to charge their devices and plan for the online examinations against their loadshedding schedules, we have noted that some students are still negatively affected by poor network connectivity and are unable to complete their examinations,” Unisa said.
