Unisa Academic Year Commences Soon
Unisa academic year commences soon and Minister Blade Nzimande's request for the university gets rejected by students.
Unisa academic year set to begin on the 26th of March as registration gets extended.
Minster Blade Nzimande's call to reduce the universities intake in students was reversed because, students began to protest for their opportunity for higher education.
Originally, Unisa was meant to reduce their student intake by 20 000 students for the 2021 academic year, but the students did not allow this. Many students were unsure of whether or not they would be studying this year, even after they received acceptance.
Vice-Chancellor and principle of Unisa Pleng Lemkabula, says that, unisa will always remain accessible to as many students as possible.
The registration period also got extended as the request of Dr Nzimande got rejected, giving the previously turned away students more time to register and finalize their position at the university.
Vice-Chancellor Lemkabula says:
Even though students have lodged cases against the 20 000 students, the university has always been committed to accessing students not being an obstacle to black students accessing education but also from other communities.
