The survey found that many learners want to be at school, as 59% of them reported that they felt fine with being back in the classroom.

"EE received 485 responses from 123 Equalisers in 133 schools. The survey was conducted in 5 provinces in which EE organises."

The five provinces that the surveys were conducted in are Gauteng, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Western Cape.

Limpopo is the province that recorded the most learners who want to be in school, with 98% of learners being confident in the safety measures their schools were putting in place.

49% of learners in KwaZulu-Natal wanted to remain at home, while 51% of them wanted to be back at school.

“Overall the majority of learners within our sample reported that they want to be at school, while 20% said they want to be at home. Disaggregated by province, the same trend was visible, with the exception of KwaZulu-Natal where 49% of learners wanted to be at home,” said Equal Education.
