When Sassa released the March payment dates for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, recipients may have noticed that the Post Office will not be making SRD grant payments on Monday 21 March 2022.
This is due to Monday 21 March 2022 being Human's Rights Day in South Africa. This is a public holiday to commemorate the events of the Sharpeville massacre which took place on 21 March 1960.
On that day, Police opened fire on a group of peaceful protestors who had gathered to protest against the Pass laws. This led to 180 people being wounded and 69 casualties.
This means that there will only be four distribution dates for the SRD grant next week. The last three digits of your ID number determine on which days you may collect your SRD grant from the post office.
Here are the SRD payment dates for next week:
21 March: No Payment
22 March: ID numbers ending in 083 & 088
23 March: ID numbers ending in 084 & 089
24 March: ID numbers ending in 080 & 085
25 March: ID numbers ending in 081 & 086
