In a tweet made on Wednesday, the South African Social Security Agency(SASSA) has indicated that its USSD system is not yet available.
Sassa has also warned its beneficiaries to be alert of potential scammers as the organisation does not endorse any websites or apps that offer its services such as applications for the Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress grant.
Thus, all Sassa beneficiaries should under no circumstances give out their details to strange links. Beneficiaries who are looking to make any enquiries through official channels are advised to visit Sassa's official website https://srd.sassa.gov.za or contact them through their WhatsApp line on 0820468553.
If you were unemployed and met the eligibility criteria at the time you submitted your application, you will receive your payment of R350 for every month following that until March 2022. If for any reason, the applicants no longer meets the eligibility criteria, SASSA can stop making payments into the account of the applicant.
It is also important to note that for you to meet the criteria of an eligible applicant, you must be currently unemployed and not be a recipient of any other form of government income, including UIF, NSFAS or any other grant.
Additionally, when you have made your application for the Covid-19 SRD R350 grant, SASSA goes in and verifies all the provided information with the UIF, NSFAS and Home Affairs databases. This is meant to check if you receive any other government income or grants and if you do not, then you qualify.
SASSA doesn't endorse websites and apps offering SASSA services like applications for the Covid-19 SRD grant. Be careful of potential scams. Don't give out your details to strange links. Our official channels are https://t.co/c85g74PV1I or WhatsApp 0820468553 #SASSACARES
