Sassa To Process SRD Grant Appeal Payments

If a R350 grant beneficiary's application for the Covid-19 SRD grant is denied, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) allows them to request reconsideration. Sassa is looking to process some of these grant payments, here are more details about it and how you can use the Sassa website to request reconsideration.

While the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) continues to disburse the R350 grant. The long-standing payment backlog of SRD grant payment appeals remains an issue that Sassa intends to address.

Thus, Sassa has recently stated that recipients of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant whose reconsideration applications have been approved will be paid accordingly. 

Beneficiaries whose reconsideration applications outcome was successful, will be paid accordingly. Reconsiderations from August 2021 are expected to be processed by the end of June 2022 and payments will then happen thereafter.

So if you are among the qualifying R350 grant beneficiaries who is yet to appeal their R350 grant application or submitted your application, this is how you can submit your application for reconsideration:

Sassa sends an SMS informing the applicant of the reason for the application's denial, as well as the department to visit or contact to remedy the issue. To ensure a positive outcome of their reconsideration application, applicants are advised to resolve the issue of their application being rejected.
