SASSA Has Officially Increased Social Grants

SASSA social grant holders can expect an increase from the 1st of April. The increases are different with each grant, so if you are a SASSA grant holder and would like to know how what kind of increase to expect, we have the information you need. 



SASSA social grant holders will see an increase when receiving their social grants from April onwards. The increases differ with each grant and will be affective from the 1st of April 2021. 

It is a small percentage increase to administer social assistance to South African citizens.

The social grants will increase as follow:

  • Older Person (60-74 years old) will increase from R1860 to R1890
  • Older Person (75+ years) will increase from R1860 + R20 to R1890 + R20 (R1910)
  • War Veteran's will increase from R1860 + R20 to R1890 + R20 (R1910)
  • Disability will increase from R1860 to R1890
  • Care Dependency will increase from R1860 to R1890
  • Foster Child will increase from R1040 to R1050
  • Child Support will increase from R450 to R460 
  • Grant-in-Aid will increase from R450 to R460 

The increases seem to range from R30 to R10 depending on the type of social grant you receive.

SASSA grant holders can expect to receive their grants on the following dates over the next five months:

  • Older Persons:

    06 April 2021

    03 June 2021

    06 July 2021

    03 August 2021

  • Disability : 

    07 April 2021

    05 May 2021

    04 June 2021

    07 July 2021

    04 August 2021

  • Children's Grants: 

    08 April 2021
