The South African Social Agency (SASSA) recently released the various payment dates for the month of January 2021, they are as follows:

  • Older Person's Grants 6 July 2021
    • This includes any grants linked to these accounts.
  • Disability Grants 7 July 2021
    • This includes any grants linked to these accounts.
  • Foster Care Grants 8 July 2021
  • Care Dependency Grants 8 July 2021
  • Child Support Grants 8 July 2021

SASSA had the following message for beneficiaries:

There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.

If you’re a Covid-19 Special Relief of Distress grant beneficiary and you want to know when your grant is paid, SASSA has answered this question before and said, "there is no set date for R350 SRD payments. We will back-date all the months due to you”.

Even though the R350 grant has come to an end, this does not mean that payments have come to an end. Outstanding payments will still be made in due course as delays with the grant are expected.
Before the pandemic, beneficiaries would be given one day and from that day, they would then start collecting their grants.

Now, due to the rise in COVID-19 infections, SASSA has decided that it would be best to allow certain grant beneficiaries to collect their payments on different days to avoid causing a larger spike in COVID-19 cases.

SASSA explains it by saying, “This is our contribution to maintaining social distance and protecting the vulnerable from congestion at payment facilities.”

The South African Social Security Agency has been providing many South Africans, who are in need, with financial support since 2005 by administering various types of grants.
