Past Pupils Call For Change
Thanks to the #BlackLivesMatter movement, past pupils in South Africa have been using social media to share how their school experiences have affected them.
Many of their social media posts speak directly to racism and discrimination in predominantly white schools, formerly known as model c schools.
Past pupils have been calling for a change in schools, both in the policies that schools have and in the treatment of black pupils and pupils of colour.
The common theme in the conversations that past pupils have been having, is the role that schools play in silencing and censoring the voices of pupils.
Now past pupils are calling for a change in schools, hoping that future generations will have a better schooling experience than they did.
