Nelson Mandela University has released a statement saying they are suspending their academic until further notice due to the coronavirus. This morning, Mandela University senior management had a meeting to discuss the future of the University and which protocols to follow.
The decision has been made to suspend all academic activities, including classes, research, assessments and work integrated learning (WIL) immediately and following the end of recess, online or virtual learning, and other alternative platforms will be used until after the Easter weekend on 14 April.
All event, conferences and public gatherings that were scheduled to take place on campus are canceled. This also means that the scheduled graduation will be postponed.
To further prevent the spread the university has announced that, "All staff and students who have returned from international travel in the last 14 days are required to self-quarantine, if they have not already done so."
While academic activities have been suspended, University staff are expected to continue their work.
