SASSA is now giving those who applied for the R350 grant but got rejected a chance to appeal. The social relief of distress (SRD) grant will be terminated on 30 April following it's three month extension.

The appeals process is due to come to an end on 30 April as well.

SASSA has previously said:

SASSA has determined a cut-off date for lodging appeals in respect of declined COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grants. The purpose is to strengthen administrative controls in the management of this grant and to give effect to a conducive environment for accounting.

How To Send Your Appeal

  1. Go to the SRD Grant website
  2. Scroll down to 'Application for reconsideration'
  3. Click on the yellow bar
  4. Fill in the required fields

You can also call the SASSA Call Centre at 0800 601 011.

If you've already submitted an appeal, you don't need to submit another or contact the SASSA office.

The applicants are requested to provide reasons why they think the SASSA decision was incorrect or provide motivation when lodging their complaints.

All appeals will be considered and appellants will be provided with feedback. All appeals will be treated fairly and transparently to ensure a high standard of administrative justice is maintained in the administration of grants.

The outcome of your appeal will be relayed through SMS.

Payments will then be done from the month you initially applied.

All applicants who applied, successfully verified and are approved will receive their payments as payment is still currently in progress. Those who haven't yet been paid yet, will receive payment and still get their coming months payments again if they still qualify.
