Gauteng Learner Stabbed To Death By Fellow Pupil
A 15-year-old pupil who allegedly stabbed a fellow pupil to death at school in Alexandra, Gauteng has been arrested. It's understood the two grade 8 pupils were fighting when they left the school and came back with a knife.
A 15-year-old learner has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a fellow Grade 8 learner to death at Pholosho Secondary School in Alexandra, Gauteng, on Monday.
It's said that a fight broke out between the two grade 8 pupils which lead to the stabbing while the school's disciplinary committee was dealing with a fight between three other pupils at the school.
The 15-year-old who is currently in custody was handed over to the police by his father last night.
According to the family of the victim, his mother was called by the school and told that there was an altercation between her son and other learners who scaled the fence and came back with a knife.
Following this, 16-year-old Qhayiya Mgayi was fatally stabbed at the school's taps by the pupil in police custody.
The arrested pupil is expected to make his first court appearance tomorrow. Pupils from other schools as well as parents were gathered outside.
One of the parents who claim to have witnessed the incident yesterday says she blames the government for making it difficult for them as parents to discipline their children when they have done wrong.
Gauteng Education MEC, Panya Lesufi condemned the incident and visited the school to be briefed on the details of what happened. He is also expected visit the family of the deceased to give details of what really happened.
