Free Data For NSFAS Students

minister bn

Nzimande announced that NSFAS students will be offered free data so that they can carry on with online learning effectively. This comes after the announcement that NSFAS students will be receiving devices as well.

In his briefing, Minister Blade Nzimande announced that NSFAS students will get free data for online learning.

He stated, "the next step is to make education data bundles available to all NSFAS students in Universities and TVET Colleges". This is to be used to access additional content that can't be accessed through educational sites that have been zero-rated.

Students will receive 10GB daytime data and 20GB nighttime data, free for 3 months. This will be from 1 June until the end of August. Students are therefore encouraged to give their correct cellphone information to institutions and to not change sim cards so that data can be distributed effectively.

More information on access to this data offer will be given in due time.

This would also apply to Funza Lushaka beneficiaries.

Educational content sites have been zero-rated for all Universities and colleges and other educational institutions across all network providers.

Nzimande also announced that NSFAS has partnered with SARS to get access to latest tax data. This enables NFSAS to have access to income details when evaluating NSFAS applicants. Incomes that will also be included and assessed is that of investment and rental income. This will also assist in the finalisation of appeals.

NSFAS is currently having devices provided to students and is looking to provide devices to TVET College students as well.
