Fake Messages Are Being Spread To Unisa Students

Unisa has warned students to be alert of fake messages being spread.

Students at Unisa have been receiving fake messages and should be aware of the fake news being spread. This week, two fake messages were spread: one about Honourable Vusimusi William Tshabalala and one about free data.

Unisa released a statement saying that a message has been running it's rounds on WhatsApp about the free data students receive.

Unisa stated, "We are aware of a message that is doing the rounds regarding the misappropriation of MTN data. Please note that it is a FAKE message and students should not click on the links in the message."

Another fake message has been circulating saying that the University has conferred an honorary doctorate to the Chief Whip of the Free State Legislature, the Honourable Vusimusi William Tshabalala.

On this, Unisa clarifies, "We would like to place it on record that the information is incorrect".
