Eskom Suspends Loadshedding

Eskom has brought back loadshedding but has said things are getting better and has since suspended loadshedding. However, South Africans know to not get comfortable just yet. We have the latest loadshedding updates for you as per the Eskom and municipal schedules.

On Sunday, Stage 2 was supposed to continue but having improved some generation capacity, Eskom suspended loadshedding from 08:00 on Sunday morning.

Eskom said on Sunday morning:

Eskom is pleased to inform the public that loadshedding will be suspended from 08:00 this morning as the generation capacity has sufficiently recovered.

Eskom has successfully returned four generation units to service. Another two generation units are expected to return to service today.

The power utility regularly explains that their generating power stations are old and often break down. However even their newer power stations have been subject to breakdowns.

Eskom has also said, "While the supply situation has improved at this point, Eskom would like to request the public to continue using electricity sparingly as the system is vulnerable and unpredictable ... the risk of loadshedding remains elevated while we conduct increased reliability maintenance".

On why some people might see delays in when their power goes back on, Eskom said:

Please allow 30 mins restoration time at the end of your scheduled loadshedding times. If power is still not restores after the additional 30 mins, you can log a call on 08600 37566.

You can get access to the loadshedding schedules by going to: loadshedding.eskom.co.za or by using the MyEskom app. Municipal customers need to contact their municipalities for schedule.
