Eskom has announced that stage 2 loadshedding will carry on through Saturday. The schedules are now available.

The loadshedding that started on Friday will carry on through Saturday, ending at 22:00. This has been caused by a breakdown at the Matimba Power Station and a number of other problems with Eskom's power generation fleet.

Eskom is urging the public to minimise their use of electricity, as the loadshedding might continue into the weekend.

"We also request the public to reduce electricity usage between 16:00 and 22:00 in order to assist us in limiting the incidence of loadshedding." said Eskom.

What does Stage 2 Loadshedding mean?

Stage 2 loadshedding means loadshedding will be scheduled six times over a four-day period for two hours at a time, or six times over an eight-day period for four hours at a time.

The loadshedding schedule can be accessed on Eskom's loadshedding website, on the Eskom app or by calling 086 003 7566.

Eskom urges all municipal customers to contact their municipalities in order to find out the schedules.
