The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) has called on 2021 matric learners to enroll for its Maths and Science Programme (MSP) that will help learners improve their mathematics and science results.
The Corporation is looking for learners from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, and this initiative was established in 2013.
There has been a steady increase in applications ever since this initiative started, producing great results that have helped learners apply for the course of their choice at the end of the programme.
In a statement, CDC CEO Khwezi Tiya said:
The 2021 cohort produced four distinctions in mathematics and seven distinctions in physical science under challenging circumstances during Covid-19. This is a landmark achievement on a very important programme for the CDC. It’s up to us to take the programme to the next level this year.
Sisipho Ndika, who had been part of the CDC 2021 cohort of learners who have been part of this programme said that she is extremely grateful as this programme has helped her grow both academically and emotionally.
Fellow learner Lesley-Ann Witbooi has been accepted to study psychology at Rhodes University, and she improved both her mathematics and physical sciences results by nearly 50%.
The Maths and Science Programme is open for enrollment until 11 February 2022.
Learners are advised to submit their statement of matric results, and a copy of their South African identity document.
Classes for the programme start in February 2022 until October 2022, daily from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
CDC Physical Science Facilitator Eldon September said they are limited to 100 learners due to Covid-19 restrictions, and preference will be given to residents of Nelson Mandela Bay.
Applications are submitted by hand at the Coega Human Capital Solutions (HCS) front gate, in Zone 4 of the Coega SEZ in Gqeberha, or via email to [email protected]
