CACH Services Are Now Open

If you didn't get a place at the University or College you wanted, don't stress, you still have a chance to get into a higher education institution all thanks to the Central Application Clearing House.

The Central Application Clearing House (CACH) can help you get into a University or College even if you didn't get the place you wanted. 

CACH is an integrated referral service for Post-School Education and Training institutions and students.

CACH a temporary mechanism created by the Department to assist the following applicants:

  • applicants who either applied on time to their institution of choice but their application was unsuccessful and now it is too late to apply elsewhere
  • applied on time and met the entry requirements based on their Grade 11 results but find that they now do not meet the entry requirements when their grade 12 results are released

Through CACH, you can also receive career advice, referral to other opportunities such as being referred to other universities, TVET college opportunities, artisan development opportunities and other possibilities.

First Year registrations for the 2021 academic year are open at Walter Sisulu University. They are excited to welcome the First Year students to the university.

The Department of Basic Education has said that the decline seen in 2020's Matric pass rate is not Covid related and would have actually been very close to last year's pass rate. The Matric Class of 2020 achieved a national pass rate of 76.2%.

The University of the Free State extended their closing date for the 2021 registration. They have done this to give students who have not registered yet the opportunity to do so.

If your application to be funded through NSFAS was rejected, you can appeal to NSFAS to reconsider it. NSFAS offers student loans and bursaries for students who qualify. 

Equal Education released a statement that pointed out a number of factors that contributed to the decline in the matric pass rate.
