Sunday 28th February

The country now has a total of 1 513 393 positive cases of Covid-19. 1168 of these cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

The deaths resulting from Covid come to a total of 49 993, 52 have been reported since the previous day.

South Africa has a recovery rate of 94.5% with a total of 1 430 259 recoveries.

So far, 70 527 vaccines have been administered and 9 077 479 Covid tests have been done since the very beginning.

Yesterday, President Ramaphosa moved the country to Alert Level 1 of lockdown and adjusted the curfew to be 12am to 4am.

Thursday 25th February 2021

South Africa now has a total of 1 509 124 positive cases, after 1676 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The number of tests done stand at 8 999 322 which shows that the country has a positivity rate of 16,8%.

Recoveries stand at 1 424 401 resulting in the recovery rate being an impressive 94%.

The deaths resulting from Covid-19 is at 49 667, with 144 new deaths reported since the last report.

As of 6PM, the total number of individuals who received vaccines come to 52 647.

Wednesday 24th February 2021

The total of positive cases found in the country since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 1 507 448 with 1862 new cases being reported since yesterday.

8 967 460 tests have been conducted so far.

Total deaths are at 49 523 while recoveries are at 1 422 622, a recovery rate of 94%.

Tuesday 23rd February 2021

998 new cases were recorded since the last report. This leaves the confirmed total of positive cases to stand at 1 505 586.

Deaths relating to Covid have increased by 263 making the total deaths come to 49 413.

Recoveries in the country now stand at 1 419 459. This would mean that our recovery rate stands at 94%.

80 000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines will arrive on 27 February.

Monday 22nd February 2021

A confirmed total of 1 504 588 positive cases were recorded with 792 new cases being recorded in the last 24 hours.

Deaths resulting from Covid-19 are now at 49 150, with 97 of these reported in the last 24 hours.

In brighter news, recoveries stand at 1 413 566 which translates to a recovery rate of 93.9%.

Sunday 21st February 2021

So far, 8 892 515 tests have been done.

South Africa has a death toll which comes to a total of 49 053 with 113 new deaths reported.

As for the total positive Covid cases recorded, that stands at 1 503 796 with 1429 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Our recovery rate stands at 93,8% bringing recoveries total to 1 412 015.

Thursday 18th February 2021

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country stands at 1 498 766 with 2327 of those cases being reported in the last 24 hours.

South Africa's recovery rate is 93,6% with 1 403 214 recoveries.

Deaths resulting from Covid-19 come to a total of 48 708, 230 of them being new. 

Wednesday 17th February 2021

South Africa's total of confirmed Covid-19 cases has increased by 2320 new cases, bringing the total cases in the country to 1 496 439.

8 772 743 tests have been conducted.

On a rather gloomy note, the death toll sits at 48 478 deaths with 165 more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

However, to lift the spirits a bit, recoveries stand at 1 399 829 producing a recovery rate of 93,5%.

The first group of healthcare workers have started with their vaccinations as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine arrived in the country yesterday. The President and Health Minister received the vaccine as well.

Tuesday 16th February 2021

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country stands at 1 494 119 with 1210 of those cases being reported in the last 24 hours.

South Africa's recovery rate is 93,5% with 1 1 396 951 recoveries.

Deaths resulting from Covid-19 come to a total of 48 313, 219 of them being new. 

The Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine has now arrived in South Africa with about 500 000 more to arrive in the next four weeks. This vaccine is effective against the new variant. The AstraZeneca vaccines which were supposed to be used but found to be ineffective against the new variant are now being offered to the AU.

Monday 15th February 2021

The Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize, confirmed that the country has grown by 1102 more positive cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total of positive Covid cases in the country to 1 492 909.

Deaths resulting from Covid has grown by 195 leading the death toll to be 48 094.

Recoveries from Covid in South Africa stand at 1 391 155 with a recovery rate of 93%. 

There have been a total of 8 712 844 Covid tests done so far.

South Africa now has a total of 1 491 807 cases.

Our recovery rate stands at 93% with 1 388 321 recoveries in total across the country. 

Deaths resulting from Covid come to a total of 47 899, with 78 new deaths being reported since the last report.

Thursday 11th February 2021

South Africa's total of confirmed Covid-19 cases has increased by 2488 new cases, bringing the total cases in the country to 1 484 900.

8 605 729 tests have been conducted.

On a rather gloomy note, the death toll sits at 47 382 deaths with 237 more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

However, to lift the spirits a bit, recoveries stand at 1 377 980 producing a recovery rate of 92,8%.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has confirmed that the first batch of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines against COVID-19 will land in South Africa next week with nine million doses arriving over time. The country has also secured 12 million additional doses through the Covax scheme and another 20 million doses from Pfizer.

Wednesday 10th February 2021

Health Minister, Zwelini Mkhize, has confirmed that South Africa has 1 482 412 cases in total. In the last 24 hours, 3159 more positive cases were reported.

Unfortunately, the country now mourns 47 145 South Africans who succumbed to the virus. 

On the brighter side, recoveries now stand at 1 374 368 translating to a recovery rate of 92,7%.

South Africa has carried out a total of 8 573 464 tests. 

Tuesday 9th February 2021

With 8 538 269 Covid tests having been done since the very first one, South Africa has seen 1 479 253 positive cases being confirmed. 1 742 of these cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Recoveries in the country stands at 1 367 247, leaving the recovery rate to be at 92%.

Deaths resulting from Covid have grown by 396 making the death toll from Covid be 46 869.

Our recovery rate stands at 92% with 1 363 947 recoveries in total across the country. 

Deaths resulting from Covid come to a total of 46 473, with 183 new deaths being reported since the last report.

South Africa now has a total of 1 476 135 positive cases, after 2435 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The number of tests done stand at 8 495 811 which shows that the country has a positivity rate of 17,37%.

Recoveries stand at 1 360 204 resulting in the recovery rate being an improved 92%.

The deaths resulting from Covid-19 is at 46 290, with 110 new deaths reported since the last report.
