The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is scheduled to disburse the October 2024 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments during the final week of the month. With beneficiaries expecting payments, it is useful to know where they can collect their funds.
Where to Collect SRD Grant Payments for October 2024
If you have been approved for an SRD grant in October 2024, you have two collection options. You can either receive your SRD grant directly into your bank account or collect the money from a supermarket.
Supermarkets authorised to pay SRD grants include Pick n Pay, Boxer, Checkers, USave, OK, and Spar.
Sassa advises beneficiaries that payments may take between two and three days to reflect in their bank accounts. Once the funds are available, they can begin using their grant money.
Who Will Receive SRD Grant Payments in October 2024
Only approved SRD grant applicants will receive payment in October 2024. Approval is subject to various verification checks by Sassa to ensure that applicants qualify for the unemployment grant.
When applying for the SRD grant, applicants must provide their ID number, name, and surname. This information is verified by the Department of Home Affairs to confirm the applicant's residency status.
The applicant's ID number is cross-referenced with databases from the South African Revenue Services (SARS), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to assess their financial situation and ensure they are not receiving any other government relief.
Both the ID number and mobile number undergo a fraud risk scoring process. After these checks, Sassa evaluates the application and makes a final approval decision.
How Much October SRD Grant Payments Will Be
The SRD grant was increased by R20 in April 2024, bringing the total value to R370. This is the amount SRD grant beneficiaries will receive in October 2024.
