The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed when matric rewrite registrations will reopen. This is important information for individuals who want to obtain their National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Senior Certificate (SC) qualification.

The registration for the 2025 Senior Certificate and National Senior Certificate May/June examinations will officially open on 1 October 2024 and will close on 7 February 2025.
The registration period for the 2025 SC/NSC May/June examinations will open on 1 October 2024 and close on 7 February 2025.
While NSC matric candidates could register to rewrite their matric exams during the 2024 November matric exams, Senior Certificate students who are dissatisfied with their 2024 results have to wait until May/June 2025 to reattempt their examinations.
Senior Certificate candidates can only rewrite their examination in May/June 2025.
Only Senior Certificate candidates can register for the 2025 May/June examinations online. National Senior Certificate students will need to visit their nearest District office to complete their registration.
Online registration is only available for SC candidates. NSC candidates must approach their nearest District office for registration.
