The University of South Africa (Unisa) has released the registration dates for Semester 2 for both undergraduate and honours degree programmes. Students who received a placement offer at the country’s largest university are encouraged to prepare to ensure a smooth registration process.
Unisa confirmed that Semester 2 registration will commence on 8 July 2024, and close on 19 July 2024.
Semester 2 registration for all undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas with semester modules to be open from 8 to 19 July 2024.
Unisa uses an Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) approach to education. This means that students study from home and don’t attend any in-person classes. In recent years, the institution also began conducting its examinations online.
This way of learning has attracted many different students regardless of their schedules and work commitments.
Unisa Registration Process Explained
Prospective students should start by identifying their desired qualifications and selecting the appropriate modules. Students should then calculate the costs of their chosen modules and any additional fees to ensure they are financially prepared.
Next, registration forms should be filled out and submitted online via the Unisa portal.
To finalise their registration, students must make the required payments. The final date for the initial minimum payment to confirm registration is also 19 July 2024.
Unisa emphasises the importance of using the correct reference format to avoid delays: the 8-digit student number followed by a space and the allocation number.
After completing registration, students must activate their myLife email account, as it will be the primary means of communication with the university.
Payment Instructions
Unisa emphasises the importance of correct payment procedures to prevent delays. Students can find detailed digital banking and ATM deposit guides on the UNISA website to assist with this process.
Students can register online at www.unisa.ac.za/register and make secure web credit card payments at Unisa Fee Payment.
Students who are already registered and wish to add additional modules can do so by logging into myUnisa, selecting the admin link, and clicking on "Student Admin" followed by "Register Additional Modules".
Unisa reminds applicants that their registration is dependent on whether they received and accepted a placement offer from the university. The university reserves the right to cancel registrations if it is found that a student was incorrectly admitted to a qualification.
