The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is now paying June 2024 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments. The grant which serves as a lifeline for millions of vulnerable people will be paid to all approved SRD Grant applicants over the next week.

Sassa recently confirmed that all approved SRD grant applicants will receive SRD grant payments from Monday 24 June until 29 June 2024.

Payments (for clients who are approved for June 2024) will be processed from 24-29 June 2024.

Sassa confirmed that SRD grant payments may take between two and three days before it is reflected in the bank account of the grant bancaires. Once the money is reflected in their bank account, the grant beneficiary can begin using their grant money.

Funds will take about 2-3 working days to reflect in the client’s account after payment has been processed.

SRD grant beneficiaries are encouraged to complete an SRD Grant Status Check to see if they have been approved for payments in June. Performing a status check will also inform them on which day they will be paid.

Clients are encouraged to view their status on the SRD website for the exact date that payment will reflect in their bank accounts

How Sassa Verifies SRD Grant Applications

The SRD grant application process involves verifying your eligibility through several steps. First, provide your ID number, name, and surname for validation by the Department of Home Affairs. Only South African citizens, permanent residents and special permit holders are eligible for the R370 grant.

Next, your ID number is checked against databases like South African Revenue Services (SARS), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to assess your financial situation. Rember, SRD grant beneficiaries may not receive any form of government relief.

Then our ID and mobile numbers are then evaluated for fraud risk. Finally, Sassa reviews your application and decides on approval or denial.

If you have passed all these verification checks and Sassa determines that you meet all the eligibility criteria for the grant, you will be paid R370 this week.
