Sassa Updates SRD Grant Payment Dates For June 2024

With the month of June ending soon, this means that Sassa SRD grant payments will commence. The agency responsible for paying Sassa grants has now made some changes.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is responsible for the disbursement of social grants to vulnerable South Africans. One grant which is provided is the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.

This grant sees beneficiaries receive R370 a month and is only available to unemployed South Africans with no alternative source of income.

SRD Grant Payment Dates For June 2024

Sassa has said that SRD grant payments will be made in the last week of the month, following the completion of verification checks to approve clients. For June payments, Sassa has made it clear:

Payments (for clients who are approved for the month of June 2024) will be processed from 24-29 June 2024.

"Clients are encourages to view their status on the SRD website for the exact date that payment will reflect into their bank accounts," said the agency.

How To Check Your Sassa SRD Payment Status

Grant applicants can check the status of SRD grant applications online by following these steps. 

Step 1: Visit the official SASSA SRD website.

Step 2: Navigate to the "Application Status" section.

Step 3: Enter your South African ID number and the phone number you used when applying.

Step 4: Click "Check Status."

Step 5: If prompted, enter the one-time PIN (OTP) sent to you via SMS to view your status.

SRD grant approval is contingent upon various verification checks by Sassa to ensure the applicant qualifies for the unemployment grant.
