The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant payment for December 2023. Only individuals who were approved for grant payments will be paid this week.

SRD grant payments will continue this week and will conclude on 22 December 2023.

Payments (for clients who are approved for the month of December 2023) will be processed from 18-22 December 2023.

SRD payments are usually during the final week of a calendar month, December 2023 is different. Sassa does not pay grants on public holidays or weekends. There are two public holidays in the final week of December 2023 which necessitated the earlier payment of grants.

Sassa reminded beneficiaries of the grant that payments may take a few days to reflect in their bank accounts.

Funds will take about 2 - 3 working days to reflect in the client’s account after payment has been processed.

Where To Collect Your SRD Grant Payment

SRD grant beneficiaries have the option to receive your grant directly deposited into their bank account, enabling them to access the funds promptly.

If they don't possess a personal bank account, an alternative is the Cashsend payment option for receiving your SRD grant payment. To utilise this method, beneficiaries can use their ID number and phone number, provided they have a cellphone with a registered number and valid proof of identification.

Additionally, grant beneficiaries can collect their R350 grant at various retail outlets nationwide, including Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer stores, where the SRD

How To Check If Your SRD Grant Application Was Successful

Sassa encouraged grant beneficiaries to complete a Sassa status check to see when their SRD grant will be paid. If an applicant’s SRD Sassa Application is rejected, you can submit an SRD grant appeal to the Independent Tribunal For Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).

During that week clients are encouraged to view their status on the SRD website for the exact date that the payment will reflect in their bank accounts.
