The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed that November 2024 grant payments will proceed on schedule.
Sassa distributes more than 18 million permanent grant payments monthly which include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.
All Sassa grant beneficiaries were scheduled to be paid their social grants from Tuesday, 5 November 2024. Sassa assured individuals that all grants will be paid this week.
The grant payment agency also dismissed reports that grant payments will be delayed for November. This comes after a message circulating on social media indicated that Older Persons grants payments will be delayed this month.
Sassa grant beneficiaries can collect their social grant payments at their usual grant collection points.
Sassa Funeral Cover Warning For Older Persons Grant Beneficiaries
Sassa has warned social grant beneficiaries against taking out funeral cover with the agency.
The agency has issued a warning to beneficiaries against individuals purporting to be from Sassa, operating under various company names, approaching elderly social grant clients at their homes requesting them to sign up for "funeral cover/ insurance".
Sassa does not offer funeral policies.
Sassa is not in partnership with these companies.
Members of the public who have any questions about social grants are encouraged to visit their local Sassa offices for assistance from Sassa officials only.
The agency urges all beneficiaries to visit their nearest Sassa office for all social grant queries.
Sassa called on members of the public to practise caution and not share personal information with strangers.
Community members are encouraged to be cautious, not to share personal information with unauthorised individuals and to report suspicious activities to Sassa immediately.
