The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payment dates for April 2025. These payment dates inform millions of people when they can expect to receive their Sassa SRD grant payment.
SRD grant payments are made during the final week of the month after Sassa completes various verification checks. These checks aim to ensure only deserving individuals receive SRD grant payments.
Sassa SRD Grant Payment Dates For April 2025
Sassa said approved SRD grant applicants will receive SRD grant payments from 25 April until 30April.
Payments (for clients who are approved for the month of April 2025) will be processed from 25 - 28 April 2025.
SRD grant beneficiaries are encouraged to complete an SRD Grant Status Check to see if they have been approved for payments in April. This SRD grant status check will also indicate the exact date you can expect your SRD grant payment to reflect in your bank account.
How To Do A Sassa SRD Status Check
First, visit the Sassa SRD status website and navigate to the SRD status check section. You will then be asked to enter your ID number, as well as the cell phone number you used when submitting your grant application.
After that, you will be able to check the progress of your grant by completing a Sassa status check. For security, you will receive a one-time pin (OTP), which you must enter to view your Sassa grant payment status.
You will also be able to see your grant payment date.
Sassa has clarified that funds may take about 2 to 3 working days to reflect in the grantholder’s bank account after the Sassa SRD payment has been processed.
Where To Collect SRD Grant Payments
Sassa beneficiaries can choose to have their Sassa grant paid directly into their bank account.
Alternatively, Sassa grant beneficiaries can collect their social grants at several payment points. These include ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer.
You will need to have your ID with you when collecting your SRD grant payment.
The SRD grant received a R20 increase in April 2024, bringing the current value to R370. Beneficiaries of the SRD grant will therefore receive R370 for the month of April.
Sassa has indicated that there is no need to rush to withdraw the money on the first day, as the funds will remain in your bank account until you are ready to access them.
