The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) confirmed the successful payment of allowances to TVET Colleges.
NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at TVET colleges. This funding covers tuition and registration fees. Students also receive several allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.
The government bursary scheme confirmed allowance payments were made to TVET College students whose registration data was submitted.
We are pleased to announce that NSFAS has successfully made allowance payments to NSFAS-funded students at TVET Colleges today, 14 March 2025.
NSFAS reminded TVET College students that only those who upload their bank details on the myNSFAS platform will receive payments.
"All students whose registration confirmations were sent to NSFAS have received their funds, provided they have uploaded their banking details."
While NSFAS processed all payments on Friday, 14 March 2025, the scheme clarified that students may receive their allowances at different times due to their bank.
The time of receiving these funds may differ between students depending on the banking institutions they use.
NSFAS called on students to use their funds responsibly and for their intended purpose. "You are reminded to use the funds responsibly and for the purposes related to learning."
NSFAS Allowances For TVET College Students
NSFAS confirmed the 2025 allowances for TVET College students.
The allowances received by TVET College students differ depending on whether they live in accommodation or at home and the type of student accommodation they occupy.
Personal Care Allowance
The NSFAS personal care allowance is paid to students who live in catered residences. In 2025, the allowance is R316 per month.
Living Allowance
The Living Allowance is paid monthly to specific student accommodation categories.
Students with disabilities residing in catered accommodation in metro areas receive R1,716 monthly, while those in non-catered metro settings will receive R2,080.
Students living in non-catered accommodation in non-metro areas will receive R1,716, and students with disabilities in non-metro locations will receive R2,080.
Students receiving a transport allowance receive a R1,716 living allowance and students with disabilities receive a R2,080 living allowance.
NSFAS Transport Allowance
The NSFAS transport allowance is paid to students who do not stay in college or private accommodation. These students will receive R802 per month.
Accommodation allowances are paid directly to institutions or private accommodation providers.
